If you have ever taken a moment to appreciate downtown Victoria. You know that it is absolutely beautiful. From the Courthouse, Deleon Plaza, and awesome architecture, it is something all Victorians should be proud of.  Here is another step to make it look just a little bit better.

Three property owners will be able to improve and preserve their historic downtown properties after receiving grant funding through the City of Victoria Main Street Programs. Fossati's Delicatessen, Rosalie Guest Quarters, and an office building on Main St will receive funding.  According to the terms of the program, all projects must be consistent with the buildings’ original designs and must follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Property owners will have one year to complete their projects.

I would add these two things to that list to help improve downtown Victoria. Revitalization of the old Victoria Bank and Trust Time and Temperature marque and maybe feature a little more artwork throughout the downtown area. I hope that in the future that our beautiful downtown isn't so dead on weekends. Hopefully, a few more restaurants, businesses, and nightspot will open up.

Downtown property owners can apply for grant funding and view program requirements at www.victoriatx.gov/mainstreet. Eligible projects will be funded on a rolling basis as funds become available.

Funding for the program is provided by the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation, which oversees the allocation of Type 4B sales tax revenue for economic and community development projects.
