THROWBACK THURSDAY: Renting Movies at the Video Store
Time to relive some great memories for Throwback Thursday. Who remembers going to the video store on a Friday night to rent a couple of movies or games? Then you would stop by and pick up a pizza and enjoy a simple, perfect Friday night.
Here is Victoria, we some great locally owned video stores such as The Movie Shoppe on Airline or the Movie Gallery on John Stockbauer Dr. Of course, the big chains were also here like Hastings, Blockbuster, and Hollywood Video. I guess the real question is, how many places to you still have a fine at?
The sights and sounds of renting a movie.
Here is an awesome TikTok from thisweekingamingx that will just bring back the sights and sound of renting a movie at Blockbuster.

Hastings is the one that I miss the most. Not only, could you rent a movie or games. They sold music, books, and towards the end of the tenure, it even had a coffee shop. Hastings called three different locations home in Victoria. They officially closed their doors for good back in February of 2018, this one still hurts a little bit.

Be Kind, Rewind.
These videos will definitely bring back memories, who remembers the phrase, "Please be kind, rewind." Recaptured 80s on TikTok posted this beauty to TikTok.
@recaptured80s Be kind, please rewind! Remember paying a fine if you didn’t rewind your VHS rental? Ah the things that happened in the 80’s! #vhs #video #videocassette #movie #throwback #nostalgia #flashback #80s #80skid #genx #1980s ♬ original sound - Recaptured80s
I personally feel that it is just a matter of time, before some variation of the "video" store will make a return. Always remember to be kind and rewind.
