Every year I see this and every year it makes me laugh. However, it is genius marketing because it's memorable. The San Antonio Zoo will once again host its fundraiser where you can name a cockroach, rat, or veggie after an ex or not-so-special someone. The name of the fundraiser is Cry Me A Cockroach, but now includes rats, which makes this more entertaining.

Rats are a new addition to name after your ex at the San Antonio Zoo.

After you name your ex, the cockroach, rat, or veggie will be fed to one of the zoo’s birds, reptiles, and mammals. It’s all in good fun and supports a great cause.

Prices for 2026 will be $5 for the cockroaches and veggies, and $15 for rats. The prices have been rolled back from previous years. With your donation, you will receive a downloadable Valentine's Day card to share with your ex, if you are that petty.
