Police are looking for the mother of a newborn baby after that was found in a dumpster. KCBD reports, that the infant was found inside of a dumpster near 4th and Cherry Avenue in Lubbock, Texas.  The infant was found alive, the status of the baby's health is unknown at this time.

Lubbock police issued this statement on Sunday morning:

“The Lubbock Police Department is grateful for the outpouring of support and concern received from community members, and beyond, relating to inquiries surrounding the health of the newborn discovered early Saturday morning in a dumpster. It is the department’s sincerest hope the public uses that same focus and determination to help investigators identify and locate the mother. Due to the status of the investigation, and in order to protect the integrity of the case, LPD will not comment on the medical state and health of the newborn at this time. Anyone with information about the mother, the child, or information leading up to the discovery of the child is asked to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.”
