THROWBACK THURSDAY: El Toro and Siesta Restaurants
As we continue our Throwback Thursday series. Let's revisit two of the best Mexican restaurants that Victoria has ever seen. Siesta Restaurant and El Toro Restaurant are both owned by the Trevino family.
You would be greeted by Josie.
Siesta was home to the legendary McCall's enchiladas and the best refried beans I have ever had. When you walked in, chances are you would have been greeted by Josie.
Since Siesta, that building was completely renovated and was Frances Marie's for many years before being remodeled again and recently reopening as Compomar.

El Toro's portion sizes were a little bit bigger than Siesta.
There was another Mexican restaurant that was just a little bit better. Also, owned by the Trevino family. El Toro was located on Port Lavaca Highway and was just a little bit better. Not only was the food always piping hot, but the portion size was bigger. Growing up, my family would eat at one of these restaurants at least once a week!
