Guess Which Texas City Was Named Dirtiest in the U.S.

One of the largest cities in Texas was recently declared to be the nastiest in the country. 

First and foremost, don’t shoot the messenger. I didn’t make the list. I’m just passing the information along. 

Click 2 Houston shared the results of a study conducted by the nonprofit media organization Grist to determine which U.S. cities were the dirtiest. Researchers ranked the 150 largest cities in the country using data from various federal agencies focusing on living conditions, pollution, infrastructure, and resident satisfaction.

And apparently, Houston came up short in all 4 categories. 

The Bayou City was ranked the dirtiest in the country thanks to it having a bad cockroach problem, high levels of pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions from industrial plants. That’s a combination that will land you on the nasty list every time. 

For what it’s worth, I’ve been to Houston a couple of times in my life, and it never struck me as being dirtier than any of the other big cities in the Lone Star State. But it’s hard to argue against the data. 

Hopefully, the study will get the attention of the folks in charge down there in Houston, so they can address the issues. Sure, those are tough problems to tackle. But every little step taken to resolve the issues is a step in the right direction.
