Shocking Texas Arrest: Man Caught with Venomous Snakes and Meth

A Texas Warden recently discovered over 30 venomous snakes and illegal narcotics inside of an apartment. Oh yeah... and the apartment was right next to a middle school.

Venomous Snakes in Milam County

According to a recent press release from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), the discovery was made by a Game Warden from Milam County following a tip from a nearby landlord.

The landlord was concerned about his tenant and feared he was hiding something; something that could prove dangerous to the public.

It turns out that the tenant had a history already with the law, so officers from multiple counties assisted in confronting the man. When they did, he eventually admitted that he was holding multiple snakes inside his apartment.

The Apartment of Mysteries... and Meth

As wardens entered the apartment, they were met with what appeared to be meth along with other drug paraphernalia sitting out in plain sight.

The reason this is especially naughty is because the apartment sat within 1,000 feet of a middle school, meaning the offense fell within a "designated drug-free zone," the release states.

After the illegal drugs were addressed, the tenant was given his Miranda rights, after which he admitted he also held--now bear with me--one monocled cobra, one green bush viper, some rat snakes and some bull snakes, and about 25 rattlesnakes WITHOUT having the proper licensing or permits to legally own any of them.

Kudos to the tenant for being honest, but he now faces multiple charges, such as possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with not having a valid hunting license, and he received a violation for not having a proper non-indigenous snake permit.
