John Leguizamo is a well-established actor who has played very notable roles.  This time though, he's considering playing the role of politician - in real life. The San Antonio Current reports that the 53-year-old actor is thinking about putting his career on hold in order to run for office in Texas.

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, he mentioned that he loves his acting career, but would be willing to step aside and make a political run to stick up for the people of color in the state of Texas.

Yes, I would run if my celebrity could get me elected, to get rid of gerrymandering and to allow people to teach Latino history in Texas, which is 39 percent Latino and around 12 percent black, so we people of color are the majority. Why are we so beaten down there?

Now, If you're wondering what John Leguizamo the politician sounds like, take a look at his Tweet from Tuesday night.

John Leguizamo is currently on Broadway for his one-man stage play Latin History for Morons. He got the inspiration from the near-total absence of Latinos in his son’s American History class.  For more information click here.
