A Texas town is boiling its water for the sixth day in a row did trace the vehicle found in the cities water system.

As the city of Laredo scrambles to correct, the problem, many factors begin to point to outdated and infrastructure. Old gross and outdated pipes may be to blame for the E. coli. Laredo’s mayor, Victor Trevino explains,“Unfortunately, the same investigation shows that the overall problem is multiple years in the making and we are now playing catch up to a problem that has grown to what it is today.”

Laredo isn’t the only Texas town dealing with this issue two years ago Odessa had to shut down its entire water system in order to make mandatory upgrades. Old outdated water and instructor is such a big issue in Texas that back in 2023 lawmakers and voters allocated over $2 million to repair the states, water supply and make upgrades too many of its water pipes.

That she proves to be so dire that the mayor resurging city council to pause and eliminate many projects in order to funnel all resources into replacing the outdated water pipes in the city.

Over the weekend follow-up water tests identified two positive E. Coli results in central Laredo and another part of the city had a sample detect high bacteria levels.

The mayor is urging for discounts to residents on their water bill as a city continues to reach a long term solution.

Even with the startling detection of bacterias, no residents have tested positive for E. coli.
