Major Auto Parts Store is Closing At least 16 Texas Locations
After a quarterly review revealed poor results, one major auto parts retailer is shutting down at least 16 Texas stores as early as the beginning of 2025.
Advanced Auto Parts has created a plan to reconstruct and essentially downsize operations in response to revenue losses revealed in their third-quarter financial review.
THE COMPANY IS RECONSTRUCTING
According to the Advance Auto Parts filing with the U.S., “On November 13, 2024, the company’s Board of Directors approved a restructuring and asset optimization plan designed to improve the company’s profitability and growth potential and streamline its operations."
The massive auto parts retailer has over 250 stores in Texas but will soon downsize. The plan will include closing approximately 16 Texas locations, putting more than 140 workers out of work.
“This plan anticipates closure of approximately 500 stores, approximately 200 independent locations, and 4 distribution centers by mid-2025 as well as headcount reductions.”
AUTO PARTS STORE TAKES BIG HIT AFTER HURRICANES AND OUTAGES
The company theorizes its heightened operating expenses and revenue loss are mostly due to hurricanes and the CrowdStrike outage. Even though Texas is losing 16 Advance Auto Parts stores, this number is minuscule compared to their 4,800 locations across the United States.
ANOTHER TYPE OF CAR PROBLEM
A trip to the auto parts store is typically triggered by car problems. However, a bigger problem with car issues is a stolen car.
In Texas, there seems to be a trend in stolen vehicles. Take a look at the top 10 most stolen vehicles in Texas. Do you own any of these types of vehicles?
