Summertime means orange barrels and road construction projects. In fact, what season in Texas doesn't come with a chance for torn up roads and orange barrels?

In Victoria, contractors have been working over on Rio Grande to install sidewalks as well as curb ramps at the corners of Hospital Drive and Palm Drive. This stretch of work is in addition to the sidewalk work done on Palm and Oleander.

Beginning on Monday, July 13th, crews will begin pavement milling from Loop 463 south toward Huvar Street. If you are traveling in this area you will want to keep an eye out for crews at work burning for new streetlights and illumination polls from Loop 463 south.

The following week, crews will begin lane closures from Loop 463 to Huvar Street. This will be a long term lane closure with the inside lanes in each direction to be shut down for about 1 month for the installation of the new concrete median.

The city of Victoria is asking any questions to be directed to Lucea'n Kuykendall-Herring with the Victoria Public Information Office at 361-293-4436.
