Nick Gordon, former boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown, was ordered to pay $36 million to estate of the late daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown on Thursday (Nov. 17).

The court's decision comes "after months of ignoring a civil lawsuit filed against him," according to USA Today.

In September, Nick Gordon was found "legally responsible" for Bobbi Kristina's death. The Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled against Gordon due to his failure to appear in court, which meant Brown’s estate won by default, according to TMZ. Gordon reportedly did not attend Thursday's ruling, nor did he hire lawyers to defend him in the civil lawsuit.

"There was an urgent need, in my mind, to get justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown and that's why I took the case. We intend to pursue, with all vigor, the full collection of the judgment," Brown estate attorney David Ware said in the statement, via Rolling Stone.

Bobbi Kristina Brown died in August at age 22, nearly six months after first being found unresponsive in a bathtub on January 31. According to the initial report of the incident, she was found by her husband and friend and reportedly “not breathing.”
