Reagan National Airport is under scrutiny again after two American Airlines planes clipped wings while on the taxiway Thursday afternoon.

No one in either aircraft was physically injured however, the incident sparked conversations about the recent occurrence of plane crashes, including the tragic collision that killed 67 people at that very airport.

Among the passengers aboard the Thursday incident were various U.S. lawmakers, including Rep. Nick LaLota who sent out a tweet.

“Serving in Congress has come with some once-in-a-lifetime experiences… like just now while stationary on the runway at DCA, another plane just bumped into our wing. Heading back to the gate, but thankfully everyone is ok!”

Representative Josh Gottheimer was also on board and explained the moment the two planes clipped each other, "the plane shook violently the whole plane shook, it was pretty clear we got hit."

Another representative, Ritchie Torres, on the plane sent out this tweet: "I was just on a grounded plane that was struck by another aircraft."


"What's scary is, it's the same airport and the same air traffic control issues we believe caused that horrific accident or contributed to awe have another incident so it's not a great year for Ragen National Airport.
