Rory Feek Calls Blogging About Joey Feek’s Cancer ‘Therapeutic’
Rory Feek of duo Joey + Rory has been an open book regarding his wife's terminal cancer diagnosis, and fans from all over the world have been following their heartbreaking journey through his blog. In a new interview, the singer says that there's a big reason he turns to that outlet.
"I am a songwriter who hasn't been writing songs in the last couple of years, so sitting down and writing these stories about our lives has been a wonderful creative outlet for me," Rory Feek tells People.
Feek began his blog in January of 2014, when his wife was still pregnant with their daughter and a terminal cancer diagnosis was far from their minds. Since then, the blog has not only become the place friends and fans go for updates on Joey Feek, it's also been a bit of therapy for Rory Feek.
"Each blog post has also been therapeutic for me, in the sense that there are some parts of what we're going through that I'm not sure what to make of," he explains. "Writing about it helps me to sort out what I feel and how to respond to the twists and turns that life has taken us on."
Additionally, Feek has captured many memories on his camera, some of which have been featured on his blog. From holiday celebrations to his wife singing, those memories will last for a lifetime -- specifically, for the Feeks' daughter Indiana's lifetime.
"Without realizing I was doing it, God has allowed me to capture hours and hours of Joey and her life at home on the farm, raising Indiana and playing music," Feek notes. "I can't help but believe that those clips will be an important part of keeping Joey's memory alive in Indy's heart."
