Six sweet Russian grannies have become a viral sensation after their appearance on the Eurovision Contest. What’s the Eurovision Contest, you ask? Why it’s only the biggest singing competition in all of Europe.

Held annually since 1956, each member nation submits a song to be performed on live television and then based on votes, determines the most popular song in the competition.

We now present to you, Russia’s official entry for the 2012 contest.

Was that cute or what?! The grannies call their group Buranovskiye Babushki, and they originally consisted of eight members. Since the Eurovision Song Contest rules state a group can only have a maximum of six members, two grannies were sadly left out. The band sing most of their songs in Udmurt, a dialect spoken in their village of Buranovo in Eastern Russia. While you may not understand the lyrics, chances are you can’t help but clap along to the song.

This isn’t Buranovskiye Babushki’s first shot at pop music glory– they won third place in Russia’s Eurovision song selection in 2010. The lyrics for ‘Party For Everybody’ were penned by the ladies themselves and Buranovskiye Babushki hope to make it further in the competition this time.
