School Bus Carrying 30 Students Rolls Over in San Antonio
A school bus full of students rolled over in San Antonio on Tuesday.
The San Antonio area school bus was traveling down Loop 410 South on its way to drop dozens of students off at school to begin their day. However, around 8:15 am, the school bus overturned.
Around 30 students were on the bus during the accident, only 5 needed to be transported to a hospital for evaluation; the remaining students were picked up by their parents. Luckily, none of the students who were taken to the hospital suffered any serious injuries.

The bus driver, however, did require urgent care.
"All occupants were evaluated. The driver and three students were transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment," an SAFD spokesperson said via email. "The driver is the only patient who required urgent transport."
Photos from that morning revealed a large school bus turned onto its side. The front window was busted in, but it’s unclear whether that was from the initial crash or after.
Looking closer at the photo, I notice the 2 emergency exit doors on the roof of the school bus are wide open.
As a parent of a school-age child, it’s chilling to imagine dozens of children who may have used those exits to escape after the crash, and whether they were full of adrenaline or scared and confused.
I’ve grown to dislike the phrase “a stark reminder,” but it truly is. Thankfully, this accident ended in one of the better case scenarios, it makes me take a moment to sit back and realize how fragile life is and to take a little more time to savor the little moments with our little humans and loved ones.
Remember to drive safely this week and be careful.
