Rising Belgian singer Selah Sue has nabbed the opening slot on Ed Sheeran‘s upcoming U.S. tour. The VH1 You Oughta Know Tour should provide a great opportunity for Sue to showcase her music following the release of her U.S. debut album in August.

Sue’s theater tour with Sheeran begins on Sept. 17 in Toronto and wraps up Oct. 6 in Seattle. ‘Selah Sue’ — her U.S. debut — drops Aug. 21 on Columbia. The album has been a hit throughout Europe, with tracks ranging from the playful ‘Raggamuffin’ to the soulful ‘This World.’ The revamped U.S. edition includes three new tracks, plus collaborations with J. Cole and Cee Lo Green.

The 23-year-old, who cites Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and Damian Marley as influences, told Jay-Z‘s Life + Times blog she was thrilled to work with Cole. “I heard that he was a fan, that he put my album on his tour bus. I was like, ‘What the f—!,’ that he knows me…. I’m not into a lot of hip-hop. It can be really gangsta. But the sound of his voice and his way of rhyming are just really beautiful.”

Of her growing success, she added, “I really enjoy it. I can see the world. I can make music everyday. I always thought that I was going to have a job from 9 to 5. I could never imagine that I would live the life that I live now.”
