January's winner was chosen for its vital place in society and unbelievable dedication to helping those who need it the most. Golden Crescent CASA was hand-delivered free smoothies to enjoy while they work hard.

INCREDIBLY CARING AND DEDICATED WORKERS

For those who are not familiar with Golden Crescent CASA, they are made of some of the most incredible and caring workers and volunteers help some of the most vulnerable within our community.

NEAR AND DEAR

Golden Crescent CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) is a near and dear place to me. I cannot express how much gratitude I have for CASA workers and volunteers. Children in the foster system need an incredible amount of love, support, and representation and CASA serves as that source.

This organization deserves so much support and appreciation for all they do. Back in college I served as president of the TRIO Club at Victoria College and organized a massive drive just for CASA. We ended up delivering more than 110 care packages full of a travel bag, toys, food, clothing, diaries, and so much more for children who were getting placed in foster care.

One of the most heartbreaking things I discovered at that time was many children who get placed into the foster system are pulled so quickly out of their environment that they only have a trash bag with very little of their items. That is beyond heartbreaking but that's when I knew teaming up with CASA was necessary.

SERVING THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST

Aside from serving as a voice for children in court, CASA volunteers form a trusting and nurturing relationship with the child and their family. It was clear they deserve recognition for the amazing work they do; that's why Tropical Smoothie Cafe and Q92 hand-delivered smoothies to the CASA office.
