Power Outages in Texas

Grid operators with Ercot smell trouble cooking for Texans this summer and have released a brief outline that includes a few scenarios that could result in the loss of power for millions of people across the state.

Texas is one of the only states with its own power grid. Unfortunately for millions of Texans, the grid wasn't prepared for Sunday's extreme energy pull.

Rotating blackouts are "controlled, temporary interruptions of electric service" enacted as a last resort in an effort to conserve power and meet demand."
