Talk about working your way up the cast list. Supergirl has gotten a bit more flexible in its second season, freely introducing its own Superman (and maybe Lex), and now one of the other great Super-foes is apparently inbound. Kneel before Zod, as a Man of Steel alum has joined the cast for Season 2.
As tends to be the case with live-action superhero costumes, Supergirl got ahead of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman suit debut with a glossy first look at the new Man of Steel posed with his cousin. Now, sneak a much more detailed peek with new Supergirl Season 2 set photos, as Superman goes up, up and away!
Max Landis is a divisive figure in modern pop culture, to say the least. The son of acclaimed director John Landis, he burst on the scene as the writer of the found-footage film Chronicle, about three friends who gain immense superpowers and find their friendships tested. He’s also known for his online rants about how Rey from Star Wars is a Mary Sue, or defending the casting of Scarlett Johansson in Ghost of the Shell.
So he’s a man with opinions who likes to share them. He also recently finished up his first miniseries at DC Comics, Superman: American Alien, backed up by an impressive roster of A-list art talent, including Nick Dragotta, Jae Lee and Jock. The series follows Clark Kent at various points in his life from childhood through to his early days as Superman, and takes a more grounded approach to the Man of Steel, but often skims and bounces off the ground a bit too hard.
Current Superman and Man of Steel star Henry Cavill was officially cast in the role in January of 2011. But, seven years earlier Cavill was also cast as Kal-El in a different Superman project. That film, which was written by J.J. Abrams and would've been directed by McG, was eventually canceled and Cavill never shot a frame of Superman. Until many years later when he was called back for a new Superman reboot and given the job. This is just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which follows the last son of Krypton in Man of Steel!
We really don't know much about how Wonder Woman will fit into the plot of 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.' We do know that she's being played by Gal Gadot and that she will, somehow, get some screen time alongside Henry Cavill's Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. But that's about it ... until now! Thanks to a tiny snippet (caught on Vine, no less) we now know that DC's Amazon warrior will forego her classic origin story in favor of her modern beginning.
