When temperatures drop, and Ted Cruz is spotted on a plane, Texans lose their marbles.

Last week, as temperatures began to plummet, photos of Ted Cruz boarding a plane had everyone spiraling. Almost instantly, the photo became a meme, and people online began joking that Ted Cruz's leaving the state during cold weather is basically a warning sign.

Who could forget his infamous 2021 departure during Winter Storm Uri, when millions of Texans were without power, heat, and water, the Texas senator was photographed flying to Cancun. A trip Cruz himself deemed a "mistake" has followed him since then. I mean, the outcome of that storm was beyond catastrophic and a Senator representing the Texas people arguably should've known better than to flee.

Yes, it’s been years… but Texans have strong memories, especially when the forecast turns icy.

The amount of worry on that face is uncomfortable.

The speculation isn’t serious, mostly. But Texans still carry Winter Storm Uri trauma, and humor has become the preferred coping mechanism.

As Cruz departs, the panic shopping arrives.

Is it a sign that history will repeat itself? Users speculate that Cruz’s travel plans control the weather. However, his team insists the travel was scheduled weeks ago.

A spike in HEB foot traffic.

The way some of y’all went shopping, a basket that large still wouldn’t be big enough.

Can't beat 'em? Join 'em!

Cruz couldn’t avoid the memes and instead played along. Cruz snapped a photo of himself back in Texas, mocking the millions of memes.
