Texas Firefighter Shot At While Checking on Crying Children
A Texas firefighter was shot while trying to check on children who had been crying and trying to wake their mother up for hours.
CONCERNED NEIGHBOR CALLS FOR HELP
A little past midnight, the Arlington Police Department received a concerning call. A concerned neighbor called the police after hearing children crying and trying to wake up their mother for an extended period.
Police, firefighters, and medical staff responded to the call. When firefighters approached the apartment they were met with organized silence.
CHILDREN HEARD INSIDE THE APARTMENT
Officers approached the apartment door and began to knock. The officers reportedly heard children's voices coming from inside, however, no one would answer the door.
Officers continued to announce their presence and knocked on the door for another five minutes. Worried someone or something might be injured inside, firefighters began to force entry inside.
GUN FIRED FROM INSIDE THE APARTMENT
A firefighter by he name of Brady Weaver walked up to the door and began to pry the door open. Suddenly, a shot was fired from inside the apartment and struck Weaver. Arlington police said everyone, "immediately backed away from the apartment and took cover."
No more shots were fired and police commanded everyone from inside the apartment to exit. A man, a woman, and two children came out. The man, who is believed to have shot Weaver, was detained and taken for questions.
