STUDENTS CAR VANDALIZED WITH RACIAL SLURS

A freshman student at Texas State University discovered his car had been keyed with a racial slur. The student's car was parked inside one of the school's parking garages.

NAACP URGING UNIVERSITY TO TAKE ACTION

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People stepped in and suggested the university take 4 measures in response to the racial crime. They recommend starting with a call to Texas State President Kelly Damphousse.

Damphousse is aware of the situation and issued a statement letting the students and community know just how "deeply disturbing" of an incident this is and how committed the university is to investigating the situation.

In an email, University Police Department Chief Matthew Carmichael revealed an arrest had been made.

"The suspect has been charged with criminal mischief. In addition to this criminal justice action, the case is also under active investigation by the TXST Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX and the Student Conduct and Community Standards Office."

The university is taking the vandalism very seriously and will continue to hold the vandal(s) accountable for their actions.

Chief Carmichael ended his email with the following sentiment, "We remain dedicated to ensuring that every member of our Bobcat community feels safe, valued, and respected."

University President Damphousse also relayed a similar message, relating a bit more disappointment in the action itself, "This hateful act is deeply disturbing to me because it runs counter to what I know to be TXST’s core values."
