According to a recent WalletHub study, four Texas cities rank among the top ten least educated cities in America. WalletHub analyzed 150 of the most populated U.S. metropolitan areas, evaluating "Educational Attainment" and "Quality of Education & Attainment Gap" across 11 metrics to determine the rankings.

Texas Cities in the Top 10 Least Educated:
#10 Corpus Christi, TX: Corpus Christi finds itself at the bottom of the educational ladder, struggling with low high school and college graduation rates.
#8 Beaumont-Port Arthur, TX: The Beaumont-Port Arthur area shows significant gaps in educational quality and attainment, contributing to its low ranking.
#3 Brownsville-Harlingen, TX: Brownsville-Harlingen faces major challenges in educational attainment, with a large portion of its population lacking higher education degrees.
#2 McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, TX: McAllen-Edinburg-Mission stands as the second least educated metro area in the nation, with critical issues in both educational quality and attainment.
Methodology Overview:
The methodology WalletHub's study graded cities on a 100-point scale based on 11 relevant metrics.
These metrics assessed factors like:
- % of adults with high school diplomas, associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees, and graduate or professional degrees,
- Quality of the school system
- Racial education gap.
To ensure accuracy, the population size was factored in to avoid overcompensating for minor differences across cities.
