$200,000 Worth of Packages Found Inside Home of Texas UPS Worker
Imagine dropping a paycheck on the latest iPhone, getting that “out for delivery” update, and then…nothing. Poof. Your package vanishes into the abyss.
Turns out, for some unlucky customers, their missing orders weren’t lost, they were being stored somewhere in a UPS worker’s house.
Thirty-seven-year-old Armando Garcia from Brownsville, Texas has been helping himself to some unlucky customers package. Garcia has been working for UPS for 5 years, but instead of just delivering packages, he decided to help himself to the expensive ones.
HIGH-END ITEMS CONTINUE TO GO MISSING
After expensive UPS packages started to go missing, the company brought in the FBI, Homeland Security, and Cameron County's DA's Special Investigations Unit. That investigation led to Garcia's home which had $200,000 worth of luxury bags, wallets, Apple products, jewelry, high-end clothes, power tools, and so much more inside.
Cameron County DA Luis V. Saenz was outraged, “This was a deliberate and organized effort to steal from paying customers,” he said.
CASE ALMOST SWEPT UNDER THE RUG
Interestingly, this case was almost ignored, "I want to recognize and commend the Cameron County District Attorney Special Investigations Unit for accepting this case and conducting a thorough investigation, especially given that the United States Attorney’s Office and a local police agency had declined it," Saenz explained.
Garcia is now behind bars, but authorities say he might not have been working alone. More arrests could be coming soon. So if your package never showed up, well… you might not be the only one missing something.
