As Tropical Strom Nicholas slowly intensifies and approaches our area, school closures have been announced this morning. As of 7:00 AM, here is what we know.

ALL OF THE LISTED SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH :

Victoria Independent School District. 

 All after-school activities for Monday are also canceled.
VISD will share information with students and staff via Edulink, and continue to check the VISD website, Live Feed, and social media accounts. Information will also be shared with our media partners.

The National Hurricane Center expects Nicholas to make landfall along the middle Texas coast as soon as Monday night, as depicted by the forecast path in the map below.

Nicholas should be at least a strong tropical storm when it makes landfall. It's possible that Nicholas becomes a Category 1 hurricane just prior to moving inland. That's why a hurricane watch is now in effect for a part of the middle Texas coastline. Currently, Nicholas has sustained winds at 60 MPH and is a flooding threat for the Crossroads area.
