This Texas City Was Voted Best Winter Destination in the U.S.
Hold the presses, the tally is IN! WalletHub published their 'Best Winter Vacation Destinations for Warm-Weather Lovers' list and Texas is smack dap on top. People crave the Lone Star State when warmth is needed, and who could blame them?
Texas City Voted #1
Cities were scored based on their affordability, attractions, safety, and a few other important traits. Starting at the very top of the list is Austin, Texas. They scored extremely well for affordability making this a go-to destination for tourists who are already shelling out money just to make it to their destination.
Let's See Why They Are on Top
Let's take a look at a few places that make Austin so great.
Heated Patios
Honestly, I love going to places and dining outside. Something hits different when it's cold outside but you're warm and cozy right next to a heat lamp. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in Austin where you can grab a seasonal drink and relax under a heated patio.
This city wasn't named the best winter destination because they are the capital of Texas. No, Austin has some amazing places where you can stay warm but still capture the beauty of a winter night. Get cozy around the outdoor fireplace at Moonshine Patio Bar and Grill. If you looking for a date night spot to cuddle up over the fire then head over to Lone Star Court. This is a beautiful spot with outdoor fireplaces that would impress literally anyone.
Comedy Show
Looking for a laugh? One of the amazing reasons Austin is a top destination(excuse me THE top destination) is because of the variety of entertainment it holds. Stop by one of their comedy clubs for a night of laughter.
Farmers Market
Hands down one of the biggest reasons I head to Austin is for their Farmers Market. Don't get me wrong, the Farmers Markets in the crossroads are my favorite, but Austin is so eccentric. They have fried donuts, dog treat stands, incredible sweets, and of course, fruits and veggies everywhere.
Diagon Alley Austin
Gather around wizards, witches, and lovers of both. Austin has a super magical destination that is an absolute must-see. Harry Potter fans are going to lose their minds when they see this place. It's called Diagon Alley Austin and it's only around towards the end of the year.
Diagon Alley Austin
A loving and caring husband came up with a magnificent idea to help cheer his wife up while she was fighting cancer. He went all out and transformed the outside of their home into a Harry Potter experience. After winning her fight with cancer, the family continued to transform their home into Hogwarts during Halloween time. After Halloween ends the fun still continues; they transform everything into the Yule Ball scene from Harry Potter. It's incredible and a definite must-see while in Austin this winter.
Circuit of the Americas
Circuits of the Americas in the wintertime is popping. Peppermint Parkway invades COTA and puts on a bright show for the family. Drive through and experience what Christmas is all about.
Austin Trail of Lights
When the temperature drops, the lights go up. Over two million glimmering lights embrace Zilker Park. Enjoy the amazing event for two weeks in December.
Film Festivals
The amount of Film Festival Austin puts on is astounding and a big reason why Austin is so wonderful in the winter. There are festivals spread throughout the entire wintertime. Austin Under the Stars, in November, and for the SciFi lovers in December there is Under the Words Austin which is a film festival full of Sci-Fi Indie films.
6th street
I mean need I say more? 6th street is full of fun party vibes that go on all night. Bar hop and find your new out-of-town favorite.
