‘Thor: The Dark World’ — Our First Official Photo of the God of Thunder
After select looks at 'Thor: The Dark World' from various set photos, the first official look at the upcoming 'Thor' sequel has finally surfaced in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. Though the 'Man of Steel'-covered edition includes a ton of new looks at some of the superhero movies on the docket for 2013, we still can't wait to see Chris Hemsworth pick his hammer back up for another battle.
After last year's 'Avengers'- and 'Dark Knight Rises'-run summer, 2013 is looking even better for comic book-adapted flicks with titles like 'The Wolverine,' 'Man of Steel' and 'Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall,' all of which are featured in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. But hidden within the crop of new images was the first official photo from 'Thor: The Dark World.'
We got multiple looks already at the Chris Hemsworth-led cast of the 'Thor' sequel, and, honestly, they were all much more interesting to look at than this new pic. But still, it's an official look at Hemsworth in full Thor armor gazing out from his Asgardian home with director Alan Taylor.
'Thor: The Dark World' will see the God of Thunder face off against the race of Dark Elves, led by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) and his right-hand man Algrim (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), who later becomes the even more powerful villain Kurse. After an attack on his home, which [SPOILER] may or may not kill off a character, Thor is prompted to team back up with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and his normally devilish brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to defeat his enemies.
