Tyrese Apologizes for Disparaging Remarks About ‘Promiscuous Women': ‘Ladies You Deserve Better’
Tyrese is not shy about expressing his opinions on social media. Unfortunately, his commentaries often lead to his fans dragging him all over the internet. Case in point: On Friday (April 15), the actor-singer went on his Instagram page to apologize for his remarks about “promiscuous women.”
In a video interview with BET that was published on Monday (April 10), Tyrese delivered a "message to promiscuous women," where he said, "sluts, skeezers, hoes, tramps and overly aggressive promiscuous women" are "never without a man because they don’t have no standards. They ready to have sex with any and everything that want to have sex with them."
The actor then advised women to not settle for any man that gives them attention and know their self-worth. "You have women that are active out in these streets, they going to lunches and dinners every night," he says. "Private planes, mega yachts, it’s cracking. They’re never without. However, it comes with a cost, you gonna put a lot of miles on yourself down there, come on."
The interview garnered plenty of heated reactions, mostly from women who were not going to allow Tyrese be the moral police on women's bodies and how they chose to have sexual activity. The Fate of the Furious star was also slammed for not taking men to task for their promiscuity.
In his Instagram post, Tyrese apologized for his remarks to all of the women he has offended.
"Please accept this as my sincere apology for my poor choice of words -- s--- gets real when it goes from a social media dragging to my own wife giving me the side eye and coming at me, even she's not happy with the way I've conducted myself," he wrote.
"I want to truly say that I'm sorry, I'm not APOLOGIZING in an effort to be politically correct, I apologize as a man first for the things that I've recently said about choices women have the right to make, for the terms that I've used and the way I've come across," he continued. "I am not perfect or all knowing, nor am I the one to claim to be. I've learned a lot through this well deserved internet dragging. This is about a man owning up to his actions, taking responsibility, recognizing how to do better, and actually doing better. Ladies you deserve better..."
Hopefully, Tyrese will think before he speaks. Maybe he should talk to Gilbert Arenas. We are just saying.
