Victoria Apartment Fire
Smoke filled the air as an apartment caught fire in Victoria Saturday afternoon. Ladders were propped against windows in the front and back of a unit at the Victoria Station Apartment complex.
Blocked Off Street
Police blocked off an entire street to allow firefighters room to extinguish a large fire. Firefighters and EMTs lined Victoria Station Drive.
A Destroyed Apartment
You could see the remaining fragments of a burnt apartment in building 2 at the Victoria Station Apartments. Windows were broken and the exterior of an apartment unit was burnt and destroyed. Windows on the second floor were broken, window blinds were melted, and you could see the chimney was burnt and destroyed.
Dog Inside One Unit
According to a source, one resident wasn't home when her apartment caught fire, although there was a dog inside when the fire started. Thankfully, the dog was rescued and no one in the unit was hurt.
Multiple Affected
Multiple residents in building 2 were left with no home. The local fire department is working with the American Red Cross to get them housed, according to the Victoria Advocate.
Cause of Fire
The street continues to be closed to thru traffic as police, firefighters, and EMTs continue to control the situation. The cause of the fire has not been released. We will continue to update this article as more information comes in.
