Victoria to Release Emergency Plan Documents

Hurricane Harvey was devastating to a lot of people in the Crossroads, and after the storm, a lot of people were left wondering if Victoria City and County officials handled the situation in the best possible way. According to the Victoria Advocate, the newspaper was asking for a copy of the official city emergency plan through a public information request, but that request was denied.

The plan which outlines how officials would respond to emergency situations like hurricanes, terrorist attacks or other emergency situations, will now be released sometime in January.

County Judge Ben Zeller said this week that the document needs to have sensitive security information redacted before it can be released. The document had been requested in the fall, and both city and county officials said they would not release it to the public because of potentially sensitive information that could aid criminals or terrorists.
