Watch Live as Will Smith Bungee Jumps Above the Grand Canyon
In honor of his 50th birthday today (Sept. 25), Will Smith will bungee jump out of a helicopter above the Grand Canyon. He's streaming the event on YouTube, called Will Smith: The Jump, and you can watch it below beginning at 6PM Eastern.
Back in March, Smith received a challenge from Yes Theory, a YouTube group with 2.4 million subscribers. According to the description on their channel, they "believe in challenging what society considers normal. So we seek discomfort to find our own way and fulfill our true calling. And we make videos about it." Smith accepted the dare back in July in order to raise awareness and money for Global Citizen's education programs.
"Will believes that every child should have access to the transformative power of an education, which provides the chance to thrive, live and succeed," a press release reads. "Through the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation he has chosen to partner with Global Citizen to support their ongoing advocacy work on education that allows them to supportEducation Cannot Wait, a global initiative that provides 75 million children in crisis-affected areas access to education."
Will's former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star Alfonso Ribiero will be among the family, friends and special guests who will be on-hand to support Smith during the experience.
After creating the anthem for this summer's FIFA World Cup, Smith revealed that he's working on new music, which could turn out to be his first album since 2005's Lost & Found.
“What happens is you get to a point where you get empty,” he said. “So I’m excited, I’m re-energized and I’m creating wildly like I used to. I’m ready. I got the beast back," he said.
