Fairy mania is sweeping a neighborhood in Guadalajara, Mexico after a local man claimed he captured one of the mythical sprites.

“I was picking guavas and I saw a twinkling,” Jose Maldonado explained. “I thought it was a firefly. I picked it up and felt that it was moving; when I looked at it I knew that it was a fairy godmother.”

While cynics will say all the 22-year-old unemployed bricklayer really did was place a plastic figurine of Peter Pan’s Tinker Bell in a formaldehyde jar, that hasn’t stopped over 3,000 people from waiting in line for up to three hours for the chance to pay 20 pesos ($1.60) to see the fairy.
