A massive fire erupted in Aransas County, which had firefighters from all over rushing to help put out.

According to the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, a massive fire ignited 54 acres of wetlands and heavy brush near Cape Valero in Aransas County.

Photos of the fire show enormous smoke clouds completely taking over the sky.

The fire came close to taking out multiple structures in the area, but thanks to the hard-working firefighters, no homes or structures were lost or damaged, Chief J. McAlister of the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department confirmed online.

Fire departments from surrounding counties rushed to the scene to help combat the huge amount of flames.

This fire was brought under control through the combined efforts of:
• Rockport VFD
• Fulton VFD
• Lamar VFD
• Aransas Pass FD
• Ingleside VFD
• Bayside VFD
• Refugio VFD

While firefighters worked relentlessly, the local barbecue company stepped up to help in the best way they could. Mac's Pit Barbecue & Catering out of Rockport, Texas, fired up the pit and catered food for the fire crews who came together to put out the flames.

Not all fires end so smoothly.

Unfortunately, massive fires are not unusual to see in Texas, especially with all the refineries and chemical plants spread across the state. Like this one back in 2023, when an enormous fire broke out in the Pasadena INEOS plant, leaving one man burned.

Harris County Commissioner, Adrian Garcia, said the fire occurred as liquid petroleum was being transferred from a tanker truck to a storage tank. Details leading up to the explosion are still under investigation.
