Pro Softball Is Taking Over Round Rock This Week
Professional softball is making headlines this week in Texas. Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is coming to Round Rock this week with a series between the Volts and the Bandits.
For the first time, women’s pro softball in the U.S. has a full-season league that feels like it’s here to stay. Not a pop-up. Not an invite-only event. A real schedule, real standings, real salaries, and players building careers beyond college.
This is what the sport’s needed.
For years, the path ended after your last college ball game. There was the Olympics, a couple short-season leagues, maybe a few guest appearances, but nothing built to last. AUSL is actively working to change that, even scoring a major partnership with MLB!
This week, Texas fans get to see it in action.
Texas Ties Worth Watching
Mia Scott (Volts) – From Angleton, Texas. If you followed UT softball in the last few years, you already know Mia was one of the most dynamic players in the country — a threat at the plate, on the bases, and in the field. Her speed is real. Her bat is clutch. And now she’s taking that same energy to the pro level.
Sam Landry (Volts) – From Mont Belvieu, Texas. If you watched the WCWS this year, you already know this was one pitcher everyone was tracking. Sam Landry is doing more than throwing strikes, she's becoming an icon and inspiration to girls around the country. Her iconic clear glasses is creating a trend that future pitching legends can't get enough of.
Bella Dayton (Bandits) – Wylie native and another former Texas Longhorn, Dayton played with grit, range, and hustle — the kind of player who could shift momentum with a single at-bat or diving catch. She’s the kind of outfielder who makes you double-check your scouting report.
Emiley Kennedy (Bandits) – From The Woodlands and recently wrapped up a career at Texas A&M, Kennedy is a 6’2” left-handed pitcher with power, movement, and composure. She’s not flashy, she just gets outs. And now she’s getting them against the best in the world.
Mary Iakopo (Bandits) – A UT standout behind the plate, Iakopo brought serious leadership to the Longhorns and had the kind of power bat that changed games. She’s sharp, vocal, and has the kind of edge that belongs in a pro dugout.
