It started around 10:15 am Monday. Police received a call about a family disturbance. A 2-year-old girl was taken from a private daycare by her father,  25-year-old Deontray Flanagan.

VIOLENTLY CONFRONTING THE MOTHER

Flanagan loaded the child into a car and took off to a retail store, where the girl's mother worked. The hostile man went inside the store looking for the girl's mother. When he found her he demanded to see her phone and get her passcode or else he'd hurt the child.

The mother complied and tried to get her child from the man but ultimately could not. Flanagan allegedly hit the woman in the face multiple times, then took off with her phone in a red Camero.

THE SUSPECT ENGAGES IN A POLICE CHASE

Police were nearby and began to chase Flanagan in his vehicle. During the chase the child's mother was able to FaceTime Flanagan, begging him to stop, but he refused to comply.

Eventually, the car came to a stop and police had a standoff for 20 minutes. Police rushed into the vehicle and removed the 2-year-old from the car and then pulled Flanagan out and arrested him.

HEARTBREAKING FATAL INJURIES

The young child was severely injured and Sheriff Gonzalez believes she didn't have a seatbelt on and may have been jumping around the car during the chase. The child was Life Flighted to the hospital but sadly, she was pronounced dead just hours later.

Relatives identified the 2-year-old girl as Zevaya Flanagan.
