Bad news for Team Breezy. Chris Brown has pushed back the release date of his fifth album ‘Fortune’ until the summer. The R&B crooner went on his Twitter page today (April 22) to announce that he will delay its release by two months.

Brown gave no reason why he wanted to push back the release date. The singer was on a roll for the past several weeks, dropping a slew of tracks from the ‘Fortune’ album. The last songs, ‘Til I Die‘ and ‘Sweet Love,’ garnered major hits on the Internet.

Brown tweeted to his followers that his new album will hit shelves in July:

Reactions to the news have been mixed. A fan from Sweden wrote, “omg you must be kidding me what happened to 8th may,” while another tweeted with a sad emoticon, “omg that’s AGES away.” Another follower was more upbeat. “You did such a great job in ['Think Like a Man'] baby,” she wrote congratulating Brown on his 3-minute cameo in the movie, which topped the weekend box office.

We wonder if the delay has anything to do with the iPhone-snatching incident a couple of months ago. Prosecutors are still investigating the case. Who knows?

At any rate, fans have plenty of songs to hold them over until the summer. And with the sequel to Brown’s 2010 ‘Fan of Fan’ mixtape on the horizon, we will definitely hear new music from him sooner than later.
