City of Victoria Asks You To Conserve Water
The City of Victoria has issued a civic alert for the Crossroads community with information regarding the conservation of water now that the City has initiated Stage II of its drought contingency plan.
According to the press release issued by the City of Victoria, which you can read in its entirety here, the drought contingency plan is divided into stages of increasing restrictions that are initiated based on very specific triggering criteria when it comes to the level of the water in the Guadalupe River, which is the water used, filtered and provided to Victoria residents.
Ken Gill, Director of the City of Victoria Public Works offered on our most recent Victoria Report, Townsquare Extra that one of the best ways Victoria residents can conserve water is to change the timing of their automated landscaping sprinkler systems. "The best hours to time your sprinkler systems are the hours of 6 to 10 am and again from 8m to midnight," Mr. Gill offers in his interview.
Mr. Gill says that there are actually 5 stages in the drought contingency plan, but not to worry, Victoria has never hit Stage 5, although the Guadalupe River has had its issues within the Guadalupe River Basin in the San Marcos area.
It's up to us to make sure we conserve water especially when our City is in need.
