Neighbors Upset Over Extreme Halloween Décor at Texas Home
One neighbor called the displays “obnoxious and overdone.”
You can’t miss it, a massive Dallas home glowing from top to bottom in orange lights, skeletons hanging off the roof, inflatable monsters guarding the yard, and enough props to make it look more like a theme park than a neighborhood house.
In Texas, Halloween decorations aren’t just a thing; they’re a full-on event. One of the best parts of October is loading up the car, grabbing some snacks, and driving around to see the wildest decorated homes in town. And if you’re anywhere near Dallas, Preston Hollow is on the must-visit list.

Every night, the streets clog with cars, all trying to catch a glimpse of the Halloween house. The 9,000-square-foot property belongs to Erik Gomez, who’s turned his yard into what can only be described as Halloween on steroids. He estimates the display cost “maybe $20,000,” joking that it’s basically a month’s mortgage payment.
It doesn’t stop at Halloween.

When December hits, Gomez goes just as big, covering every inch of the house in dazzling Christmas lights. The crowds have gotten so intense that off-duty Dallas police officers were brought in to manage traffic during the holidays. Eventually, on-duty officers joined in to help, which ultimately cost the city more than $25,000 in personnel, vehicle, and even helicopter support.
For many families, it’s a magical holiday tradition. Although you can’t please everyone. Some neighbors say the constant traffic, noise, and safety risks have turned their quiet street into a seasonal headache, and they’re getting fed up.
