Dance Floor Injury to Sideline Tennis Star Kim Clijsters
Kim Clijsters, the number two women's tennis player in the world, might miss this year's French Open because of a dance floor injury she suffered at her nephew's wedding.
The Belgian tennis star turned her ankle while performing an undisclosed dance move, resulting in "a severe strain of both the medial and lateral ligaments of the right ankle and a torn ligaments, a torn capsule of the ankle joint, a hematoma and torn tendon sheath," according to her website.
The injury typically takes four-to-six weeks to heal, and the French Open begins in six weeks.
If she is able to play at Roland Garros, Clijsters would be shooting for her third-straight Grand Slam title, having won the US Open last year and the Australian Open earlier this year.
