DeTar Healthcare System Hosting Free Fall Prevention Seminars for Victoria Residents in 2026

If you’ve ever worried about an older parent, grandparent, or even yourself taking a bad fall, you’re not alone. Falls remain one of the leading causes of injury among adults, especially seniors, and right here in Victoria, local healthcare providers are stepping in with education and resources.
DeTar Healthcare System will host two free Fall Risk & Prevention Seminars in 2026, giving community members practical tools to reduce fall risks and stay independent longer.
The first seminar is set for March 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DeTar Hospital Navarro Education Classroom, located at 506 E. San Antonio Street. A second seminar will follow on September 9, 2026, during Fall Prevention Month. All registered participants will receive a light lunch.

These sessions focus on real-life factors that affect balance and mobility, including:

  • How osteoporosis increases injury risk after a fall
  • Medications that may cause dizziness or instability
  • Physical therapy exercises that help build strength and prevent falls
  • The role EMS plays during fall-related emergencies
  • How nutrition supports bone and muscle health
  • Local community services available after a fall
Healthcare professionals will also share simple ways to make homes safer and explain how small changes can make a big difference.
Participants can attend in person or join virtually using a link provided after registration.
Organizers say the goal is to help Victoria families take proactive steps before an accident happens.
Both events run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and registration is required.
