
DeTar Healthcare Welcomes New CEO to Victoria
DeTar Healthcare System has named Brett Maxfield as its new chief executive officer.
“I look forward to starting the next chapter of my career at DeTar Healthcare System, and expanding its legacy of providing safe, quality, accessible healthcare,” said Maxfield.
A history of healthcare leadership in Texas and Mississippi.

Maxfield was most recently chief operating officer and interim CEO of Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, Texas, where he focused on expanding healthcare services in the community. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer and interim chief executive officer at Merit Health-Biloxi (now Memorial Hospital Biloxi) in Biloxi, Mississippi.
The faculty and staff at Detar are ready for the leadership Maxwell will bring. “We are excited to welcome him to DeTar to support our talented team of providers, nurses and employees and continue to build on the momentum we have to help area residents access more care close to home,” Dr. Mark Stevens, Chairman, DeTar Board of Trustees said.
Relocating to the community he will be serving.

Maxfield and his family are making the role official and moving to Victoria to be part of the community he will serve.
“From the opening of the cancer center to the family medicine residency program to the new partnership with Texas A & M, DeTar continues to advance the quality and availability of healthcare services, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to build on this success.”
Maxfield received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Texas Tech University and his MHA/MBA from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
