Heartbreaking video reveals the reality that many parents are facing in recovery efforts to find their loved ones as the rushing flood waters begin to recede in Kerr County, Texas.

One man is leading search efforts for many children, as well as his own son.

"I'm just doing what a parent would do, nothing else matters right now than to take this effort to find my son and these other kids."

Fad got a call around 4 am from his son Aiden, who was staying at one of their homes along the Guadalupe River with his girlfriend Ella and their friend Reese for the 4th of July weekend.

Aiden told his dad that the house was flooded, and Fad quickly instructed him on what to do.

"I told them to immediately get to the highway, and as it got to the back porch, the water immediately rose from 4 inches to 4 feet in a matter of 4 minutes."

The heartbreaking phone went dead after about a minute.

"Aiden was uncomfortable going through the rushing water, didn't think he'd make it, and something happened, and his girlfriend Ella and another girl, Reese, were losing their footing, and Aiden jumped in the water after them, and they got rushed away. Within less than a minute, the phone went dead."

Fad quickly assembled a rescue team to search for his son and the others. When asked if there was hope that there would be anyone found alive, Fad admitted, "Right now we are proceeding as if this is a recovery and not a rescue."

The reality hits many families hard, including Fad, who shared his true desire, "My desire is to just not leave Aiden and Ella to the river if at all possible."

As the search for any sign of missing people continues, more heartbreak follows. "Yesterday we did find one of the kids in the pile, one of the kids was found about a half a mile down the river.'
The interviewer pointed out how strong the father was during such a devastating time, but with a broken voice, Fad responded,

"It's gonna crater."

The last words he shared with his son.

"You wish you would've said I love you, son, but we were in get-it-done mode, and so I was trying to get him to high ground, and that was the focus of the moment."
