A former top-tier MLB player is behind bars after crashing into multiple vehicles while trying to flee from police, in an alleged drunken state.

Matt Bush, a former Texas Rangers player, was just arrested after a tumulous run-in with police. It all started when police spotted Bush's 2023 Lincoln Aviator driving erratically in Arlington, Texas.

When Bush noticed police were after him, he quickly sped off and tried to run away. However, his escape came to a quick halt after he ran a red light, causing a multi-vehicle wreck.

A witness at the scene revealed that Bush quickly got out of his vehicle after the wreck and tried to run away on foot. However, he was quickly stopped and detained by innocent bystanders until police arrived.

Bush was suspected to be drunk by police and witnesses who watched everything happen. Bush refused to take a sobriety test and refrained from speaking to investigators at the scene. A blood test was taken and the results are currently being processed.

Bush was booked into the Arlington City Jail and charged with a DWI, an accident involving injury, and 1 count of evading arrest.

Bush has a disappointing history with alcohol issues and law enforcement.

2004: Drafted No. 1 overall by the San Diego Padres but faced several alcohol-related incidents during his time with the team.

2009: Traded to the Toronto Blue Jays but was quickly released for failing to comply with team rules.

2012: Arrested in Florida after a DUI crash that severely injured a 72-year-old motorcyclist. His BAC was 0.18, more than twice the legal limit.

2012–2015: Served 39 months of a 51-month prison sentence for the DUI incident.

2015: Released from prison and began his baseball comeback.
