A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of Michael Dean Davis Jr., 27, in Laredo, Texas, on Nov. 12. Davis was charged with murder following the discovery of human remains at a property in Buffalo, Texas, on Oct. 22, according to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

The case began in June after an adult and child were reported missing, with their last known contact in July 2022. The remains were identified as Mahogany Washington, 27, Davis' former partner and mother of his 8-year-old son.

YOUNG CHILD PLACED IN THE CPS

Davis, who had been living with his son in a home near Cuatro Vientos in Laredo, was apprehended after law enforcement received a tip. The child, thankfully unharmed, was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

The arrest was a high-stakes operation. Authorities revealed Davis was likely armed and posed a threat to his son and the surrounding community. Inside the residence, police found rifles, gas masks, and an armor suit.

DAVIS' BOND SET AT $3 MILLION

In addition to the murder charge, Davis faces charges of child endangerment due to the home's poor condition. His bond is set at $3,000,000.

This complex operation required coordination between the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, the Laredo Police Department, and U.S. Marshals.
