Tyler, TX Man Allegedly Kidnapped For $10,000 Ransom According To Police
A Wild Story From The Tyler Police Department About 2 Men Who Allegedly Kidnapped A Tyler Man.
Two men, one from Colorado and one from New Mexico, are currently in the Smith County Jail on some heavy felony charges after they were allegedly hired to kidnap a Tyler man who owed someone money.
The Man Was Taken From A Home In The 11700 block of FM 2015 in Tyler on Sunday afternoon.
According to KLTV, the arrest affidavit states that the men drove in a rented car to the location where they put a gun to a man’s head and forced him into their car.
After driving away, the suspects then began calling the man’s wife and demanded $10,000 with instructions not to call the police or they would kill her husband.
The affidavit added that the man’s sons followed the suspects in their own vehicle, but were threatened at gunpoint a short time later not to follow any further.
47 Year Old Julio Cesar Cordova of Albuquerque, NM
The two men kept demanding $10,000 from the man’s wife, but after her repeated pleas that she didn't have the money, they reduced the demand to $5,000 and, eventually to “whatever she could collect.”
Law enforcement was able to track the kidnapped man’s cellphone and saw that the suspects’ vehicle had stopped in Fort Worth.
38 Year Old Walybert Eron Cordova-Rascon of Straburg, CO.
Fort Worth Police eventually detained the suspects after finding the victim in the backseat of the vehicle and recovered two guns.
Rascon and Cordova are cousins who told police that “a black male” told them to go find the victim because the victim owes him money. The victim told police he believes Rascon was consuming methamphetamine while he was in the car with them and doesn't know either one of the alleged kidnappers.
Cordova and Rascon have since been booked into the Smith County Jail on a charge of aggravated kidnapping for ransom/reward, each with a $750,000 bond.
