
Man From Killeen Who Was A Band Director In Louisiana Arrested For Crimes Towards Student
David Jonathan Smothers of Killeen, Texas, has recently been taken into custody for his actions against a unidentified child in Louisiana. He was the assistant band director at South Beauregard High School.Here's what is known at the time of writing.
What Were The Actions Of David Jonathan Smothers?
Per KLPC, police from the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office took Smothers into Custody on January 24th, 2025. At the time, the only information provided was Smothers had been arrested and charged with "indecent behavior with juveniles."
Nearly a week later, further details were revealed in regards to Smothers' actions. On January 18th of 2025, an unknown person filed a grievance about Smothers, saying that he was sending unsuitable text messages to a student in the school. The unidentified child was 12 years old.

Following this, inquires began which lead to his arrest. But, there is still much to be done by officers in the district itself.
What Else Are Police Doing In Regards To Smothers?
Per KLPC, conferences are still needing to take place as if the 12 year old was the only one Smothers was texting improper things to. This is also in addition to the outcomes of forensic testing, as well as various warrants for searching things.
As for the school district, they release a statement via Larry Hollie, the Beauregard Parish School Superintendent:
“We are unable to comment on this matter, due to it being an active investigation. The Beauregard Parish School Board is cooperating fully with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office.”
