Texas Just Got Crispier! KFC Moves Its Headquarters Texas
KFC Is Packing Its Bags and Heading to Texas!
Big news, chicken lovers! KFC, the fast-food giant known for its crispy, finger-lickin’ good chicken, is making a big move. After calling Kentucky home for decades, KFC is relocating its U.S. headquarters to Plano, Texas. Yep, you read that right—Kentucky Fried Chicken is leaving Kentucky!
Why Is KFC Moving?
KFC’s parent company, Yum! Brands (which also owns Taco Bell and Pizza Hut), has decided it’s time to bring its teams closer together. Plano, Texas, is already home to Pizza Hut’s global headquarters, so it makes sense to put KFC’s U.S. headquarters there too.
"These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us better serve our customers, employees, franchisees, and shareholders," said Yum! Brands CEO David Gibbs.
What Happens to Kentucky?
Even though KFC is moving, it’s not saying goodbye completely. Yum! Brands is keeping corporate offices in Louisville, Kentucky, and they’re even donating $1 million to the University of Louisville for student scholarships. Plus, they’re planning to build a first-of-its-kind flagship restaurant in Louisville. So, Kentucky will always have a piece of KFC history and that secret 11-herb-and-spice recipe.
Why Texas?
Many companies are moving to Texas because it has lower taxes and plenty of space for big businesses. Plus, with Texas being a food-loving state, KFC should feel right at home.
What Does This Mean for KFC Fans?
For the average fried chicken fan, not much will change. KFC restaurants will still be serving up their famous buckets of chicken just like always. But behind the scenes, the company is making moves to grow bigger and better.
