LL Cool J Claims His Race Prevented Him From Getting ChapStick Deal
LL Cool J believes he might have lost out on a ChapStick deal because his lips weren't so popular years ago.
In an interview The Blast published yesterday (June 24), the rapper-actor was asked if he was ever approached by ChapStick for any kind of endorsement deal. LL responded by suggesting that the company didn't hit him up for a deal because of the type of lips he has.
"No, they hated my Black lips back then," LL Cool J responded with a laugh before he got in a car and drove off.
While LL's never gotten a lip balm deal, he's been making plenty of other moves. Last year, the veteran entertainer recently revealed his plans to join forces with Ice Cube to acquire nearly two dozen regional sports channels. Then, a few months ago, the OG duo received several billion dollar commitments from investors.
With support from Alex and Ani jewelry founder Carolyn Rafaelian, LL and Cube plan to bid on channels that Disney is being forced to sell off including 22 sports channels and the YES Network. Both rapping entrepreneurs aim to use the money from their investors for their new venture.
XXL has reached out to ChapStick reps for comment.
