Logic’s ‘Young Sinatra 4′ Album Cover Recreates Frank Sinatra’s 1938 Mugshot
Logic followed last week's announcement via freestyle of his new album Young Sinatra 4 by unveiling the project's cover art today (Sept. 4).
The artwork, hand-drawn by the rapper's longtime artistic collaborator Sam Spratt, features Logic posing for a mug shot in the style of Frank Sinatra's mug after the singer's 1938 arrest in New Jersey for the very 1930s crime of "seduction."
Spratt explained on Twitter that the cover was intended as a "love letter" to Sinatra's famous crew of singers dubbed The Rat Pack.
"For Young Sinatra's return, he knew ages ago he just wanted a simple throwback to the beginning: a love letter to the rattpack," Spratt wrote. "No robots, wild colors, or labyrinthine easter eggs. Just a nod to where it started."
Logic announced the project by way of his "YSIV Freestyle" video posted last Tuesday on Twitter. In the verse, the rapper compares himself to Nas, Big L, The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, among other legends, and announces the album's Sept. 28 release date in the outro.
The project will be the 28-year-old's first since his chart-topping March mixtape Bobby Tarantino II. His last studio album Everybody dropped in May 2017.
In recent weeks, Logic performed his song "One Day" with a group of American immigrants at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards and guested on a remix of Kyle's Kehlani-featuring song "Playinwitme."
